Cardinal Parolin to celebrate Mass marking Sainte Odile’s anniversary

Pope Francis has appointed the Vatican Secretary of State to preside over Holy Mass in Strasbourg Cathedral marking the 1300th anniversary of the death of the Patron Saint of Alsace.. He will concelebrate with two French prelates.

The Holy Father has appointed His Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin as His Legate to preside over the concelebration of the Eucharist to take place on 4 July 2021 in Strasbourg Cathedral, on the occasion of the 1300th anniversary of the death of Sainte Odile (Saint Ottilia), patroness of Alsace.

A note released by the Holy See Press Office on Saturday adds that Cardinal Parolin will be accompanied in his mission by Monsignor Hubert Schmitt, Vicar Generale of the Archdiocese of Strasbourg and by Father Christophe Schwalbach, Rector of the  Mont Sainte Odile Shrine.
