Pope Leo meets with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia

Pope Leo XIV on Monday morning met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Nikol Pashinyan, in the Vatican.
According to a statement released by the Holy See Press Office following the meeting with the Pope, the Prime Minister met with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by the Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
"During the cordial talks at the Secretariat of State," the statement read, "satisfaction was expressed for the good relations between the Holy See and Armenia, a country with an ancient Christian tradition."
It noted that certain aspects of the life of the Catholic Church in the country were also highlighted.
"At the same time," the statement concluded, "attention was also given to other issues of common interest, in particular the need for a stable and lasting peace in the South Caucasus."
