The United States said it struck Iranian military sites over the weekend, while Tehran claimed it responded by targeting an American base, marking the third escalation in a week around the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Central Command said it carried out “self‑defence strikes” after Iranian actions that included the downing of a U.S. drone over international waters.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it targeted an air base used by U.S. forces in retaliation for an earlier attack on southern Iran.

Meanwhile, Kuwait said its air‑defence systems intercepted hostile missiles and drones during the exchange.

The latest strikes came as U.S.–Iran negotiations to end their months‑long war stalled over the weekend.

Iran’s chief negotiator said Tehran would not accept any agreement unless its rights were fully secured.

Regarding Lebanon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz said Monday they ordered the military to strike Beirut’s southern suburbs after what they described as repeated Hezbollah violations of the ceasefire, including rocket and drone attacks on northern Israeli cities.

Israeli media reported the decision followed U.S. approval for Israel to expand its military activity in Lebanon, shifting from operations in the south to include airstrikes in the capital.

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said Sunday that Hezbollah remains committed to a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire and urged international efforts to pressure Israel to halt its operations.
